Vaniga Pathuma Dancer, 2004. Gouache on paper; 74cm x 54cm. The artist's studio George Beven has indeed, found it to be the 'Resplendent Isle' and his response to it has been a series of paintings, largely in gouache on paper, rich in colour and imbued with life. They are a remarkable rendering of harmonies and movement, sometimes sedate, at others ecstatic: resplendent images to stimulate the heart and mind.
